Welcome in my little world !

Family of percussions

Publié le 6 Avril 2013 par DorianeMCR in Family of percussions

As all the differents family of music instruments, the family of percussion is huge. I will present you a part of this family.

  • The marimba, is the biggest xylophone of the family of percussions. It's an african xylophone which has long bars of wood and under them, many tubes of wood, or of bamboo which are there to spread a sweet and muffled sound. The sticks must be the same as the vibraphone, to have this particular sound.
  • The xylophone has wooden bars and has tubes too which spread the sound.
  • The vibraphone has bars of metal, and a pedal to spread the sound, and under the tubs there is a kind of ventilator which spread again the sound and gives a pretty sweet sound. (The ring of the High school is made by a vibraphone)
  • The glockenspiel, is a little keybord with metal bars. Is sound is really sweet, thanks to the sticks which are in metal too.
  • The Kettledrums are bigs drums (= tambour) of copper (a great percussionist can play of 5 kettledrums). Each kettledrum can give a note and can be granted thanks to pedals. The sticks are particuliars too, there are sticks to have a strong attack, or others to give a sweet sound.
  • The snare drum, which is one of the main part of the drums, is a cylindrical drum which has two drumheads, one on the upper of the instrument, and the other under it. There are several wires or cords under the drumhead (the one which is under), which gives a special sound.

They are also all the little percussions, but the list is too huge to present you all this little instruments.
